Peggy's Cove is a picturesque fishing village 26 miles (43 km) south of Halifax, the main city of Nova Scotia. It is located on St. Margaret's Bay. There are lots of inlets in the seacoast, and this top photo shows one of the places where a bay meets the ocean.
There are only about 50 residents of Peggy's Cove, yet it is a major tourist attraction. Tourists enjoy walking around and taking photos of the quaint houses and seascapes.
This is the heart of the fishing village, with a narrow inlet protecting the lobster and fishing boats from the ocean's fury. We drove to Peggy's Cove late in the afternoon on the day before we flew out of Halifax, and the lighting conditions presented both opportunities and challenges for photos.
The houses and fishing buildings have a weathered look, often with shingles for siding to protect against the wind and rain from the cold North Atlantic.
I liked capturing the yellow reflections in this puddle. I wonder if the local tourism board tells the residents to sprinkle their houses and yards with some touches that visitors will find charming for photos.
