Photos: Images of Bangkok

All of the photos we are posting this week are from the Wat Phra Kaew temple complex in Bangkok except the last photo, which is from another nearby temple.  Wat Phra Kaew is the holiest Buddhist site in Thailand.
The exterior of the temple buildings are elaborately decorated, which is fitting because the temple complex is right next to the royal palace.
The Wat Phra Kaew temple grounds contain more than 100 buildings on 94 acres (234 hectares).
This architectural style is called Rattanakosin, which translates as old Bangkok style.  The temple buildings date back to about 200 years ago.
There are lots of nooks, crannies and angles to explore for photographing the temple complex.
This image of Buddha was one of many identical statues in a nearby temple.  Thai temples allow photography, unlike Buddhist temples in Bhutan, where we traveled from Thailand.
