Holidays in Santa Fe

For the holidays, here are some photos of Santa Fe, New Mexico. The photo above is the entrance to the Inn and Spa at Loretto, a boutique hotel next door to the Loretto Chapel where my husband and I stayed last November. You can see the luminarias set up along the roofline, along with a dusting of snow.
Santa Fe has lots of art galleries, most of which feature a native Amerian or Western theme. This is the sculpture garden at the entrance to one of the galleries.
Santa Fe is at 7,200 ft (2,134 m.) elevation, which explains why it gets gentle dustings of snow in the winter. This photo shows the snow melting delicately from a flower, as the bright Southwestern sun melts most snowfalls by midday.
The Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi is bathed in the floodlights at night. There has been a church on this site since 1626, although the current church dates to the late 1800's. This was built in a Romanesque Revival style.
This is a statue of St. Francis of Assisi, wiht a dog or a wolf, in front of the Basilica. The Rose Window above the cathedral door is visible in the background.
Right next to the cathedral is Cathedral Park, with statues and memorials, including this memorial to the original settlers of Santa Fe.
This statue is next to the entrance to the parking lot at the Inn at Loretto. We usually stay either here or at the La Fonda Hotel, which is across from the Plaza. The Inn at Loretto is about a block farther away.
